Their first hellos – Their story began when Raj and his friends, who were mutual friends with Anjali, came to Austin to ring in the New Year’s. What started out as a seemingly normal introduction of “Hi, I’m Raj” turned into the momentous beginning of something special. After catching each other’s eyes across the room, Anjali finally mustered up the courage to approach Raj. Their conversation went a little something like this – Anjali - “Do you watch Bollywood movies?” Raj - “Umm yeah, I do. It comes with the name.” Anjali - “You remind me of the Bollywood actor, Ayushmann Khurrana!” And just like that, they spent the rest of the night figuring out who the bigger Bollywood fan was! Soon after, Anjali moved back to Dallas to be with her family. In the midst of a global pandemic, their love grew stronger through strolls in the park, playing basketball, badminton, and throwing a football around. From making fun of each other’s basketball skills to laughing at each other’s dad jokes…these two loved spending quality time together. It marks over three years of their beautiful journey where they’re not only each other’s humsafars, but best friends and badass partners to each other. They are now ready to make it official and tie the knot! Band Baaja Baarat coming in March 2023!

Under the disguise of a celebratory trip for Raj’s cousin, Hena and Avi’s career achievements, Anjali unassumingly packed for a ski trip to Breckenridge, Colorado. Their first day in Breckenridge was spent strolling the streets of Downtown Main Street. There was nothing better than snow-covered peaks, frosty trees filled with lights, scenic views and holiday cheer! It was surely a winter wonderland! The next day, the group had planned to catch the sunrise and take in the beauty of Breckenridge. In the morning, the two drove around Breckenridge taking in the miles of scenic roads in every direction with their last stop being at Sapphire Point Overlook. Once they arrived at the overlook, they were mesmerized by the surreal beauty that surrounded them. It felt as though time stood still. And it was in that moment, Raj got down on one knee and asked Anjali to marry him.
