We first crossed paths on March 12, 2022, at our friend Noelle’s (now one of Raizel's Bridesmaids of Honor) birthday party at Sandy’s Beach. We both noticed each other right away — and thought the other was so cute — but Noelle had a rule where her coworkers couldn't date her friends (bc drama!). Plus, Raizel wasn’t drinking that day and had no idea how to be social without a drink in hand lol so she stuck close to her friends and quietly told them how cute she thought Lukas was. Throughout the day, we kept stealing glances at each other. At one point, Raizel’s friend got caught in a riptide, and Lukas swam over to save him — and that’s when Raizel decided she might already be in love. As the day wrapped up, Lukas started helping break down the tents and tried to strike up a conversation with Raizel. She nervously replied, “Yeah haha,” and then promptly walked away. (Smooth, right?) And just like that — nothing happened!

A few months later, Noelle quit Maui Brewing (where she worked with Lukas), and Raizel immediately confessed that she had the biggest crush on him. Noelle was in FULL support. From then on, anytime plans were mentioned that might include Lukas, Raizel made sure to show up — but Lukas somehow never did. Then one night, on July 18, 2022, fate finally stepped in. They ran into each other at The Gallery, one of Raizel’s favorite spots. She said "hi" to their friends, and asked Lukas if he remembered meeting her at Noelle's, and he said "yes of course, great seeing you again!", then they went back with their own groups. But that night, they kept bumping into each other at three different bars, and by the time they ended up at the last one of the night, Kelly O’Neill’s, they finally started talking… and never stopped. From that night on, they continued seeing each other - kind of. With Raizel’s plans to move back home to California soon after, they spent the next few months in a “situationship” that neither of them really wanted to end. When she left the island, they kept in touch, checking in and texting here and there. When Raizel decided to move back to Oahu on June 2, 2023, Lukas came over after work that very night, and said "let's try this for real". And since that day, they were finally official!
