Our first date was at a cocktail bar (after our first choice was closed!) in downtown Berkeley. Conversation came naturally and we didn't want to say goodbye after several hours and drinks, so we went for late night Thai food. Tayler was enamored with Rahel's smile and Rahel loved how easy it was to connect over curry. We were the last two in the restaurant at closing time.
Our first of many weekend getaways was to Monterey, CA. We walked around the beach and the aquarium. We ate delicious fresh seafood. It was our first experience spending multiple days together, and at the end of the weekend Rahel - a major introvert - didn't want to part ways.
Rahel proposed to Tayler with a traditional English tea service served as a picnic in our backyard. Rose petals were strewn across the table, and delightful tea and pastries set the stage for a romantic afternoon. A few weeks later, Tayler surprised Rahel with a picnic by a lake ending with the most beautiful engagement ring!
