Mackenzie's Perspective: It was Fall of 2016 and I was going to my sorority little's birthday pregame. Andrew heard about this pregame through his roommate in the fraternity house and decided to tag along. We met that night but were not able to talk much. A few weeks later, Andrew asked me to go to his fraternity formal but I was unable to attend. Two months went by and I saw him again at a tailgate. After hearing so much about him from his roommate, I knew I wanted to get to know him more and asked him on my formal. Sparks flew and I had more fun on that date function than I had ever had. After holiday break, we were inseparable. Whether it be working out together, having lunches at the Pi Phi sorority house, studying at the library, or going out, we quickly realized that we wanted to pursue this relationship more despite having already accepted our first jobs in different states. In January 2017, he asked me to be his girlfriend. Little did we know, this was the beginning of our life-long future together.
Andrew's Perspective: After celebrating our 4th anniversary together, I knew it was time to 'pop the question' and what better occasion than during the annual Stanley family ski trip. As my vision started coming to fruition, I began planning out what would later become the most perfect day in Park City, Utah. I told Mackenzie we were resort hopping, but in reality all of my intentions that night could be found at the St. Regis Deer Valley Resort. While sipping cocktails, my phone suddenly rang with a Park City number. Little did Mackenzie know I had arranged the call to inform us of a “last minute cancellation” to a dining experience in the Yurt Village. Our yurt was magical with a myriad of delicious appetizers served to us as it snowed outside. About an hour into it, I found the perfect moment to head right outside the yurt with Mackenzie and drop down on one knee. After hearing her say yes, “YES!” I was looking forward to the next surprise I had in store for her. Next stop, a romantic horse sleigh ride through the snowy mountains. I feel truly blessed to have had the Stanley family's support to help my vision become a reality.
