On what became their first “date,” Rafael insisted on cooking dinner—even though he had just moved to Oklahoma and didn’t have much more than a kitchen, a plan, and the determination to make something special happen. Over homemade tacos and easy conversation, they knew this wasn’t just a good meal—it was the start of something meaningful. Before dinner was even over, they had already planned their second date: a concert coming to Oklahoma City. But neither wanted to wait that long to see each other again. A week later, they met for Chipotle—a favorite for both of them long before they met—and the beginning of what would become a tradition. From that point on, they never spent a weekend apart. What followed were countless concerts, any and all sporting events, golf dates, workouts, vinyl hunting, and more Chipotle runs (plus the occasional Costco hot dog). Somewhere in the middle of all of it, they found something rare: peace with each other. Wanting that peace every day, they moved to Norman and into their first home together. Through life changes and challenges, they later moved to Oklahoma City, where Rafael proposed exactly how Maggie had always hoped—quietly, at home, no public spectacle, with their two dogs watching. She said yes without hesitation. Above all else, Maggie and Rafael are partners—best friends, chosen family, and teammates in every sense of the word. They’re so excited to celebrate this next chapter surrounded by the people they love most.
