Ashley and Steve BOTH suggested to both of us that we should be friends. Nothing more. I lived in Phoenix, and was starting a new job while working two others. Ricardo was active duty in the United States Marine Corps living in 29 Palms California. I had no plans to entertain anything with someone who didnt live in town or near me. Long distance relationships rarely work. So here we are, getting to know each other while i was in training in Tucson and Virginia with a new job for 12 weeks, and still attempting to work the other two jobs on weekends. Well, Ricardo, he was living his best life in the desert. I got busy and he was patient. Fast forward, a few months later, i finished training and COV-id hit. My work sent me home to work from home. The USMC WENT ON LOCKDOWN. No travel more than 75 miles from home. All Ricardo kept saying was that if he could travel he would drive to Phoenix, and stay in a hotel so we could get to know each other over a few weekends. Covid had other plans. I finally was able to go see Ricardo, face to face after months of texting, phone calls, and Facetimes in different time zones. I took a chance on possibility and drove to see him. I shared my GPS with a few people JUST IN CASE. And said, “if you dont hear from me by sunday, be worried.” What a life changing weekend it was. I met Ricardo, and the next day ALLLLLLL of his friends. And that weekend was june of 2020. Fast forward to November 2020, Retirement. Ricardo retired from actice duty and had no plans on what to do after. Go to school? Go to work? Stay in California? Move? Well, my only option with my work IF we went back to our office WAS for him to move if he wanted to. He told me, “I’ll just move to phoenix.” Talk about Shock. Together we decided to buy a house in the WORST buyers market in Phoenix, versus renting while deciding where to go. Ricardo and I bought my dream house in April of 2021. We moved in May 9th, Mothers day. Well now you all are caught up, sort of.
