We expect it to be quite warm, possibly exceeding 85°. However, it will cool off and may even require a sweater if you stay past 8pm. The whole event is outdoors on mixed terrain. There will be lots of shade, but be sure to wear something cool for the beginning, bring a layer for later, and comfortable shoes that will work on grass and gravel surfaces. Parking is not located at our reception. Please be sure to visit the parking page. If you plan to camp on the family property, please make sure to answer the supplemental camping question within your rsvp (or text Raeann). We have a large guest list and understand that everyone’s comfort level is different with large crowds. Please know we want you to make decision that’s best for you and your family during these times.
We invite anyone with babies and toddlers to feel free to bring them. For older kids and teens, we encourage them to attend if they know Arthur and Raeann, and want to celebrate with them. We are expecting a very large crowd and appreciate your understanding.
Definitely. Food will be served on a rolling basis and you can eat at your leisure from 5pm - 7pm. If you are worried about the heat, it will be more shaded and cooling off the closer we get to 7pm. The line for food could be shorter the first hour, so it's a trade off, do what works best for you!
No dress code, but if you're looking for guidance let's say summery cocktail attire with a casual vibe.
If you only have 15-20 minutes and do nothing else, take the 5 minute drive up Sherwood Rd to the Brooktrails golf course simply to see some redwoods and lovely views along the way. If you have a little more time, head to Summer Lake (photo above^^) from the golf course for the best drive (0.3miles) and take a scenic 1 mile loop walk. There is also a children's park. Note: Summer Lake will get you to the walk via GPS, but note there is no actual lake or sign that says "summer lake" -- you'll just see a parking lot with a gate that leads to the trail. For the best 1 mile loop experience, take the main path but vere left when it splits — to take the upper trail. Then when you see a cinder-block structure (about halfway), cross the bridge to the right and go right. That will take you back to where you started. Another great drive is along hwy 20 past the reception site. If you go about 7-10 minutes past the reception, you’ll see vast views and there are pull outs where you can stop and take photos.
