To set the scene... it was absolutely the coldest day of my life and I decided it was the perfect day to go watch Eric (Birdman) play softball. I went to Nelson Park with layers on layers on without the idea that day would be the day I met my person. I noticed during the first game that I was watching that the left center fielder kept looking at me. After that game Eric and I ran an errand and he said, "just so you know that guy Zach wants to ask you for your number". I still am so surprised by how cool I played it off and just said "oh yeah, he's pretty attractive", while secretly so excited inside. Once they were done playing Zach came up to me and said "So i noticed you and think you're beautiful and was just wondering if I could have your number?". I coyly gave him my number then skipped back to my car with a huge grin on my face not knowing that my life would forever change.
Let's just start by saying that I had absolutely NO CLUE that I was going to get engaged on this day. We had a gymnastics meet at Beamers and I woke up 30 minutes late.. didn't even wash my hair. I forced my whole family to come support my girls which offered the perfect opportunity for Zach to pop the question. I just didn't think that it would happen that day because of my dear friend Kelsey who CONVINCED me that it would not happen during that week. I have to give props to the closest people in my life because they held their tongue every time I interrogated them during that week. During Reindeer Games my whole family, and Zach's parents were in the upstairs observation room looking like they were in complete scheme mode but I was so busy coaching to really pay attention. Once Reindeer Games ended, the girls, other coaches and I took a big group photo when the Chris Lane's song "Big Big Plans" started playing and I thought to myself "oh sh*t!" and quickly realized what was about to happen. Zach walks out on the floor and is SO NERVOUS, gets down on one knee and asks me to marry him. It was the easiest yes I have ever said in my life. I am so thankful that our families were there on that day. I am also so blessed to have my precious gymnasts there because all 14 of them are like little sisters to me. Beamers Gymnastics, my family, my friends and especially my gymnasts are the most important aspects of my life and this couldn't have been more perfect of a way to get engaged. Also... THAT RING!!! He did so good. That was one of the best days of our lives.
