This is actually a funny story to tell since we originally did not want our family members to know how we officially met. The truth is we actually started talking on Tinder while he was finishing schooling for the Marines at Camp Pendleton, and I was still going to school at UW-Platteville. Once I had moved back home from Platteville he was back home as well, so we decided we should meet in person instead of just talking back and forth on Snapchat. We decided to meet at WhirlyBall which became our favorite place to go to very shortly after. Of course I was not going to go by myself to meet some guy that I met on a dating app, so I took a friend. Soon after that we had planned to go every week. After a few months on December 14, 2019 he decided to ask me to be his girlfriend. After we had been together for a little bit we decided it would be a good time to tell our families how we had actually met and they all asked why hide that. Honestly we didn't say anything because we were scared of the reaction we would get from them, but they all thought it was funny and were happy it worked out for us.
We were on a family trip up to Door County this weekend, We had a house right on the lake with its own beach. Matt had this planned so he had two chairs set up on the beach and then had me come and sit out there with him while the sun was setting. We talked for a little bit and then he said "I know you were expecting this after my two-week training", right at the moment I knew what was coming and I could not believe that it was happening but it was perfect. He then got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.
