From their site: "Utah’s Hogle Zoo is a Utah treasure. Located at the mouth of Emigration Canyon since 1931, the Zoo is spread out over 42 acres. Its natural hillside terrain and meandering tree-covered pathways enhance your visit as you discover the wonders of the natural world." Obviously, Tasha has to recommend the zoo! The wedding is during December, which means you'll even have the chance to visit ZooLights and see the zoo decked out for the holiday. Plan on it being colder than you even think it could be and wear lots of layers!
From their site: "The 9th and 9th neighborhood and the 9th and 9th business district is often referred to as one of Salt Lake City's best kept secrets. Our neighborhood is a unique and fun place to walk, shop, dine or just spend an afternoon. Close to the best that Salt Lake City offers, we welcome you to join us." 9th and 9th is one of our favorite areas in the city. The neighborhood if filled with local shops, restaurants, and the iconic Tower Theater (where we had our first date!). Definitely visit The Salt & Honey Market, The Stockist, Coffee Garden, Pie Fight, the Tower Theater, and hit Pago for brunch (order the Eggs Benedict!).
From their site: "Nestled into the foothills of the Wasatch Mountain Range, the Rio Tinto Center (the Museum Building) rests on a series of terraces that follow the contours of the hillside, blending into the environment. The building is located along the Bonneville Shoreline Trail, a popular location for hiking and mountain biking, which serves as the Museum's "main street". The Natural History Museum of Utah is on this rec list for a multitude of reasons. It's location, built into the mountainside, is one of a kind, and the building itself features copper siding mined in Utah, and an amazing observation deck/terrace where you can overlook the Salt Lake Valley. The museum houses cool traveling exhibits, as well as a large collection of dinosaur fossils (many found in Utah), and has a large Native American exhibit that highlights Utah's Native people. It is a great stop for anyone wanting to get a bit of an educational Utah experience.
From their site: The John W. Gallivan Utah Center (“The Gallivan Center”) is a year-round open space and urban area destination in the heart of Downtown Salt Lake City that serves a variety of uses. Home to a lush grass amphitheater, public plazas, a banquet/meeting center, a public ice rink, and art installations, the Gallivan Center serves as the hub for concerts, exhibits, workshops, debates and lectures, public gatherings, festivals, and holiday celebrations. Tasha and her sisters Aliya and Arianna had Ice Skating lessons at the Gallivan Center through much of elementary school, and spent a lot of weekends out on the ice! While it has been a LONG time since any of us have been skating, we still think the Gallivan Center is a great wintertime SLC spot to hang and check out, and is right in downtown SLC, just a couple of blocks from City Creek Mall, Regent Street, and more.
From their site: "Eva Coombs was renowned for cooking with an abundance of both love and butter. Her great grandson, Charlie, was always by her side in the kitchen, and Eva's passion for French cooking and respect for ingredients transferred to her young apprentice. Chef /Owner, Charlie Perry, opened Eva, the restaurant, and Eva's Bakery Boulangerie in her honor." OUR FAVORITE BRUNCH IN THE CITY. Order the Stuffed French Toast and your favorite coffee, and live your absolute best life. Truly, there has never been a better French Toast. Seating is limited and there can be a wait (it is worth it!) so arrive early! Located in the center of downtown Salt Lake City, just a block from the City Creek Mall and the awesome Regent Street, this is a great area to visit and explore.
From Google: "Casual, modern nook with old-world decor & an outdoor patio offering made-to-order Thai specialties." Best Thai food in Salt Lake! Great atmosphere, family run and operated, and delicious food. This is one of Clark's favorite spots in town - he HIGHLY recommends the Yellow Curry, Pad Thai, and ordering a "fresh, young coconut" to drink! Skewered Thai is located across the street from the historic Trolley Square shopping center, where you can grab some local dessert at Normal Ice Cream, and check out local stores like The Hive Market and Cabin Fever.
From their site: "Established in 1993, Bombay House has since been an iconic restaurant destination in Utah. Famed for its authentic, Bombay and Indian cuisine. Eating at Bombay House is about much more than just food. It is a complete cultural submersion for all five of your senses." Bombay House is a bit outside of the downtown area, and during peak times it is a madhouse, but is it the yummiest and most authentic Indian you'll find in SLC. The tandoori flat breads, the curries, the mango lassis, everything is delicious! If you like Indian food, it is a must visit.
From their site: "In all of the Crown Burger locations you will always find 1 to 5 family members working along side of our employees. Some of the restaurants may differ with 1-2 different items or different prices, but you will always find the Best, freshest food and friendliest service in all of our Crown Burger locations." In the ongoing national arguments of regional burger chains (Shake Shack v. What-A-Burger v. In-N-Out, etc.), Crown Burger is the Utah winner. It's a local chain burger joint, that also serves gyros, and really damn good shakes. This isn't a fancy dining spot, but a good place to grab a quick reasonably-priced bite, and the downtown 300 west location has INSANE décor inside - straight from a Hitchcock movie. Like seriously. Check it out. Near The Gateway Mall and the downtown area.
