The section of Highway 1 running through Big Sur is widely considered one of the most scenic driving routes in the United States. There are a large number of state and federal lands and parks, including McWay Falls at Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park, one of only two waterfalls in California that plunge directly into the ocean. Point Lobos State Natural reserve is located on the central coast of California. Its entrance is on iconic Highway 1 , about 3 miles south of Carmel-by-the-Sea.It is renowned for stunning vistas where land meets sea, and breathtaking scenic views. It is great for hiking along the ocean or simply strolling around and taking in the magnificent rocky coastline lined with rare Monterey cypress trees.
