It all began on a warm July evening in 2021, under a golden Brooklyn sunset. Rachelle, visiting from San Francisco, found herself at a rooftop Tiki Disco party at Elsewhere in Bushwick—an iconic New York summer moment. That’s where she met Andrea, a native New Yorker with a love for music, good vibes, and mango margarita slushies (with way too much Tajín). That fateful night, they danced as the sun dipped below the skyline, laughed, connected, and unknowingly started the rest of their lives together. Two days later, they had their first date at Chela, a cozy Mexican restaurant in Brooklyn, on what turned out to be the windiest summer day. Drinks, tacos, and wild conversations later, they both knew this was something special. That night didn’t end at Chela—it carried on at Good Judy, a beloved queer bar, where the music and energy mirrored their spark. Just two weeks after meeting, Rachelle flew back to California—and Andrea flew with her. Together, they packed up Rachelle’s life into two suitcases and a car (which was shipped across the country). Rachelle may or may not have conveniently twisted her ankle the night before move day, leaving Andrea to pack her entire apartment (including disassembling a desk and TV) solo. True love. From there, their Brooklyn chapter began. For three years, they built a life together in Brooklyn, and for the past year, they’ve been making a home in Long Island City. Over four years, they’ve built an incredible life surrounded by the most amazing queer community—loving, supportive, and adventurous—and, of course, a thriving plant family in their apartment. Part of what makes their bond so strong is where they come from. Both Rachelle and Andrea grew up in big, wild, beautiful Latin families—which gave them an instant connection and an understanding of each other’s roots. Rachelle is a scientific business analyst and writer, with a love for design and a gift for creating beauty wherever she goes. Andrea is a behavior analyst, DJ, and percussionist—someone who can move seamlessly between science and rhythm, always finding ways to connect, uplift, and create. Together, they blend creativity, curiosity, and care into every part of their lives. Music has always been at the heart of their connection. Andrea started teaching Rachelle how to DJ early on, and their shared love for house, disco, and dance music led them to spin at events, dance until sunrise, and chase the beat around the world. From rooftop sets to beach days, they’ve been in sync ever since. They’re travel lovers, ocean dwellers, adventurers at heart—and at the core of it all, two people who support each other deeply, push each other to grow, and strive to create a joyful balance between career, community, and love.
