The Beginning

"Uhh....I like you."

Rachel had done it. She called Josh and admitted, finally, that she had feelings for him. His response? "Soo...let's plan a date?" It didn't get any easier (or any less awkward) after that. On the day that Josh was making the five hour trip from San Diego to Phoenix, Rachel locked herself out of her apartment. Roasting in the hot Arizona sun she called the nearest hotel to book a room, the only option she had left. Drenched in sweat and looking like a complete mess, she met Josh and they went on their first date- the Waffle House in the parking lot of the hotel. They both ordered a flat, dry steak and slowly the awkwardness of a first date dissolved and was replaced by a mutual excitement. They left and wandered the area trying to find a bar that was still open, eventually finding their way into a divey biker bar where a drunken old man prophetically asked: “Is this your wife?” Little did they know... she soon will be.

The Proposal

Two Years Later

Josh had done it. He'd spent weeks searching for the perfect ring, spent weeks imagining and then dismissing ideas for the perfect proposal. But now he had a plan- sort of. Josh and Rachel flew to Northern Ireland to visit Eric and Leah, and Josh had recruited them to be in on the proposal. They had a plan to spend the day seeing some of North Ireland's most gorgeous sites: The Dark Hedges, The Giant's Causeway, Carrick-a-Reed Bridge. Eric had even stuffed a bottle of champagne, four flutes and some ice into his backpack (which started leaking halfway through the day). The problem was that Josh didn't exactly know where he wanted to do the proposal, and he was having trouble finding the perfect spot. The Dark Hedges were too macabre and Carrick-a-Reed was too crowded. Looking gloomily at the ground as his prospects for finding the perfect place darkened, Josh happened to look up as they were leaving Carrick-a-Rede and saw a sign that said "Advanced Hiking Trail". "This is it", Josh eagerly thought as he passively suggested aloud that they should take this trail, trying not to give anything away. After an unforgiving fifteen minute climb and trek through some thorn bushes, Josh gave Leah and Eric The Sign. Next to a cliff overlooking the blue Atlantic, Josh popped the question, to which Rachel replied "IS IT HAPPENING?!" After she said "Yes!" Josh popped the champagne. As the four of them toasted to the newly engaged couple, a crowd of onlookers clapped and cheered from the path far below.
