We’re Getting Married

It all started back in 2019. Sam and I (Rachel) had known each other through family connections. At the time, he tried to get my attention by asking his nephew to talk to me on his behalf—but honestly, I wasn’t interested and didn’t give it much thought. Years passed, he tried to pursue me not once, but twice. Both times, I turned him down. I wasn’t ready and I didn’t feel the same way. He was disappointed, but he respected my decision. Then came April 2025. I was going on a vacation to Baguio with her sister and our friends. We had a car but no one to drive it—until asked Sam. He accepted to drive us. Given our history, it was a little awkward at first. He was quiet, reserved, but surprisingly thoughtful. He’d carry my things, walk behind me to make sure I was safe, and buy me foods I liked—all without saying much. When we visited Bangar, his hometown, something changed. I saw a different side of him—kind, patient, sincere. That trip gave us the space and time to really see each other, not just as acquaintances, but as people. By the time we returned to Singapore, he gathered the courage to ask if he could court me once again. This time, I said “let’s see”—on one condition. And he fulfilled it. Not long after, he gave me a ring. Everything happened so fast, but it felt right. Now, we’re here—writing the next chapter of our story together as we plan our wedding.
