Rachel messaged first: "How many times a month do you go snowboarding?" Yan was intrigued. They met up for a coffee date, even though Rachel doesn't drink coffee. Rachel suggested to eat at a nearby taco place (they were meeting on Tuesday, taco Tuesday is always a must!). Little did Rachel know, the taco place was VERY expensive (like $15 for one taco). Despite the potential for Rachel being a freeloader, they had amazing tacos, split the bill, and spent the rest of the night talking. The night ended with a goodbye kiss and Yan hopping on his motorcycle and the rest is history!
Yan invited Rachel to a camping trip in Big Bear, only a month after they met. They climbed some rocks to see one of the most epic mountain sunsets. Later that night by the fire, they made it official! Boyfriend - girlfriend status achieved.
Yan kept asking "Are you getting your nails done before your Europe trip?" Rachel became suspicious since she hardly ever gets her nails done. Yan took Rachel to an iconic spot near the Golden Gate Bridge and the beach. To Rachel's (expected) surprise, Yan asked Rachel to marry him, in front of her Mom (flown in from San Diego, an unexpected surprise) and sister. They took some photos on the beach and met up with friends at a favorite brewery. Time to plan a wedding!
