Scott had been telling his friends about Rachel for months; “there’s this cute blonde girl at the gym I want to ask out.” Then one day at the gym in March 2022, Rachel broke the ice by giving Scott a piece of workout equipment he needed, and a week or two later they spoke again about leg exercises. Finally, Scott gets the courage. While talking to Rachel at the gym one day he decides tomorrow will be the day he asks her on a date. He asks her if she’ll be at the gym tomorrow and she says, “yes.” He says, “great, see you then” and leaves the building, forgetting that “tomorrow” could mean any time between the gym’s hours of 5AM and 10PM. Several minutes later, Scott came all the way back into the gym to ask Rachel for a specific time. Sure enough, the following day, he showed up at that time and officially asked Rachel out. She said yes. Scott and Rachel began dating in April 2022 when Rachel was finishing up her second year of law school. They spent that summer swimming in the pool and drinking frozen margaritas. Rachel supported Scott in his transition from day shift to 18 months of night shift and back to day shift as a corrections officer at the state prison where he’s worked for nearly a decade. Scott supported Rachel through the remainder of her years in law school, studying for the bar exam, and becoming a lawyer. Scott proposed to Rachel in December 2024 at the Hershey Park Christmas Candylane light display and she was honored to say yes. Rachel and Scott continue to workout at the gym everyday and enjoy activities like playing Mario Kart, taking nature walks, going to church, playing cards and board games, and talking current events and politics. Scott brings so much happiness to the relationship by constantly making Rachel laugh, and Scott continues to be impressed by Rachel’s intellect and creativity. Everyday together is a blessing for this couple who has put God at the center of their relationship. And what God has joined together, no man can separate (Mark 10:9).
