And then Two Become One

We went to Pizza Thief for our first date to “eat pizza and talk about Jesus” - and talked for hours! Like, the place closed and we had to go outside to keep talking. The conversation was so easy, and that's when we knew, this was something special.

Berto went on a fishing trip with Rachel's dad, and when they got back, he decided it was the day to ask Mr. Santos' permission to date his daughter! She said yes, and the adventure continued!

We took a day trip to Seattle, and spent the day eating good food, shopping, and walking around downtown Seattle. Finally, we decided to ride the ferris wheel. Once we got in, Berto said it was time to do a quick prayer, and we had to hold hands, bow our heads and close our eyes. I obliged, and teared up as I listened to my boyfriend thanking God for our lives, our relationship with Him and each other, telling God how thankful he was for me and what he loved about me, and prayers for our future. The prayer began to stretch on, and while this was sweet, I thought we were missing the view! I asked if we could open our eyes, but Berto insisted on keeping them closed, heads bowed, and hands together. Finally, after a few laps on the ferris wheel and some shuffling around, Berto paused and asked, "Will you marry me?" I looked up to see Roberto on one knee, holding the ring in front of me. Tears flowed, kisses were showered, and Berto was tackled with a big, "YES!"
