How We Met

Pete and Rachel met while working together at Neurocore Brain Performance Center in 2015. With such a close-knit group of coworkers there were frequent team dinners, holiday parties, and various activities. Before long, Pete and Rachel became good friends.

The First Date

In 2017, Rachel left Neurocore to explore other avenues. She wasted no time in pursuing Pete once they were no longer coworkers. Rachel asked Pete out on an official date the day after she had left. They spent four hours at Reserve Wine & Food eating a delicious meal, drinking wine, and talking. The rest is history.

The Proposal

April 29, 2022

Fast forward 5 years… Pete and Rachel took a trip back to Scottsdale, Arizona to celebrate their 5th dating anniversary. In between lounging at the pool and sipping cocktails, Pete suggested they go on a sunrise hike at Pinnacle Peak. The 5am wakeup call came fast, and they set off on a 2-mile hike to watch the sunrise over the Scottsdale desertscape. About ¾ mile in, Rachel and Pete saw a hummingbird drinking from a freshly blossomed tree. Pete asked Rachel to help quickly change his camera lens. Pete reached into his backpack… while down on one knee… and pulled out a small box with an engagement ring inside. Rachel ecstatically said, “Yes!” She was so surprised. They both couldn’t wait to spend the rest of their lives together. Once they returned to the resort, Rachel excitedly called family and friends who, much to her chagrin, were not answering. Not thinking much about it, Rachel agreed to relax by the pool with Pete before the surprise dinner reservations in town. On the walk to dinner, they passed through a nearby hotel patio overlooking a golf course. As they approached one of the tables someone yells, “Rachel!”. Startled, Rachel looked over to see who was calling only to find that not only are her parents, Mark and Jayne, there but Pete’s parents, Jeff and Mary Pat, too! Pete had arranged for both sets of parents to fly down to Arizona for the engagement celebration without Rachel suspecting a thing. If any of you know Rachel, you know that is quite the feat. The next day the families rented a cabana by the pool and spent most of the day eating, drinking, swimming, and enjoying the warm Arizona weather before ending the night with beautiful views at Top Golf Scottsdale. Once the parents left, Pete and Rachel were able to enjoy another 5 days in Arizona before heading back to Indiana… and the real world.
