How We Met (Rachel's version)

January 9, 2022

I never could have guessed that moving into my little bungalow in The Heights would be the start of a new chapter in my life. To celebrate, my mom came to visit for the weekend—no one’s better at exploring a new neighborhood (or sampling a good wine bar in reach) than she is. We wandered into The Post, a cozy neighborhood wine bar just around the corner, and were instantly welcomed by the owners. That evening, as Mom and I sat at the bar deep in conversation, a guy walked in and just lit up the room. It was Murphy. He took the seat right next to my mom, and within minutes, the three of us were trading stories and laughing like old friends. If you know my mom and Murphy, you’ll understand that neither of them ever meets a stranger. The hours flew by, and before we knew it, we were the last people at the place. When it was finally time to call it a night, Murphy turned to me and asked for my number, boldly promising he’d take me out the very next day. I’ll admit, I was skeptical—but the next evening, true to his word, Murphy showed up and swept me off to the best Tex Mex spot in The Heights. From the moment Murphy said "hello," a spark ignited between us. There are times in life when your heart just knows something extraordinary is about to begin.
