Matt and I instantly knew that we had something special after some mutual friends introduced us in 2015. We decided to take things slow, so naturally, within just one month we were saying "I love you." It wasn't long after that, that we knew we were in it for the long run, and trust me, we know a lot about running. A few months later, after visiting my hometown, Matt discovered that my high school cross country uniform colors were black and yellow, like a bumble bee. This sparked a unique memory for Matt. He began to tell me a story about a cross country meet he attended in high school, specifically, the Manhattan Invitational on October 9th, 2010. His story went something like this: some random girl walked up to him and asked "Hey, do you know how much a polar bear weighs?" Before he could respond, she answered her own question, "well it's enough to break the ice," and ran away!... Matt then turned to me and asked if I knew who it was, or if she was on my high school team. In utter disbelief, and no longer able to maintain my poker face, I told Matt about the time my friends dared me to use that exact pick up line on a boy at the Manhattan Invitational on October 9th, 2010. At the time of the dare, I thought there was no way I would ever see this random guy again, so why not? After spewing out my lines as fast as I could, I bolted, embarrassed but relieved that I would never have to face him again. Little did either of us know that we had just met the love of our lives. We are so thankful we had a second chance at a first impression. We found our connection through running, but throughout the years have discovered numerous shared passions. We spend our summers hiking and our winters skiing; when we aren't being active outside we can be found inside the kitchen, cooking and baking decadent new recipes. We dream of seeing the world together and, one weekend at a time, we are. Now, our greatest adventure awaits, becoming Mr. and Mrs.
