While living in a high rise apartment with friends, I came home one night to find a cute new security guard working the door who was very outgoing and kind (surprise! It was Luke). In the late spring of 2018, he was no longer a security guard but was still a friend who I invited to come swimming with me at night. While swimming under the stars, listening to Alina Baraz, we quickly fell in love. Too shy to say we actually liked each other, we spent many nights in a fort he had made for me in his midtown upstairs loft with string lights. When we weren't watching Disenchantment on Netflix using a TV that looked like it still belonged in the 90s, we would often stay up all night talking. As we held each other in our arms, we shared funny memories of our past, our favorite things, our fears, and what we looked for in the future. He brought me buckets of flowers. I told him he made me feel sparkly inside. Quickly, we were seriously dating. On November 10th of 2018, Luke and I went to a park downtown that his parents visited back when they were dating. (We've affectionately named it "Stark Park"). He led me to a large magnolia tree by the river that he had lined with flowers and tea lights. As the sun set in the glow of the Mississippi, Luke asked if he could be with me for the rest of my life. I knew that this was the person I had prayed to be my soulmate, and I feel blessed every day to have what we have together. Almost every single person that we broke the news to was overjoyed, from family to professors to our friends at P&H and beyond. Our lives together include making the most out of the little moments: singing along and drawing on tables at karaoke night, seeing live shows, laying in the grass at Overton (because he can actually get me to relax), and enjoying morning coffee with our two cats. We cannot imagine our lives without each other, and we invite all of you to share this wonderful moment with us as we celebrate our wedding day.
