Leigh and Rachel connected over a mutual love of politics and Snoop Doggy Dogg. Leigh saw that Rachel's "interesting fact" was that she had once "talked Snoop Dogg with President Obama." Wanting to know more, he messaged her relaying a similar experience in which he and Mitt Romney extoled the virtues of "Paid tha Cost to Be da Bo$$." Rachel was intrigued--although their politics may have diverged, she knew what was more important: a shared appreciation for 90's Gangsta Rap. They can still be found debating legislative priorities while listening to N.W.A.

Their first date was at a bar in the East Village called Linen Hall. Rachel was late (as usual) and Leigh had made friends with some random people at the bar (also as usual). Rachel was charmed by his easy affability with strangers, but even more so by the fact that he taught her a new skill as part of their date. While telling a story about how he broke up a fight, Leigh took her down from the bar stool, placed her hands just so about his neck, and showed her how to fend off any assailant with a simple chokehold. Thankfully, their holds became much more loving after that.
