We first met about 10 years ago when Rachel was working at the daycare Beckham attended. At the time, we were just friends, everything felt easy and natural. Life eventually took us in different directions. Rachel changed jobs, and we lost touch. Years later, we found our way back to each other when Rachel saw on Facebook that Kylie had gotten a Jeep. Knowing how much Jeeps meant to Kylie growing up, it was such a big part of her family memories. Rachel reached out, not thinking much of it other than a quick “hey, I saw this and thought of you.” From there, the conversation picked up effortlessly, like no time had passed at all, and quickly turned into something we didn’t want to stop. Eventually, we made plans to get together. One of us thought it was a date. The other fully, confidently wrong.. invited friends. Yes. Actual friends. To a date. And somehow, it still worked out perfectly. From there, life started to come together in the best way. We spent our time living in downtown Seattle, soaking up that chapter and everything that came with it, including bringing home our first kitten. Along the way, we grew together through new jobs and traveling, before taking a big leap and relocating to the East Coast. There, we bought our first home, added a second kitten to the family, and continued building our life side by side. Kylie proposed on our 4th anniversary at a beautiful winery and in true Kylie fashion, she powered through the entire day unknowingly having pneumonia because nothing was going to ruin that moment. It was thoughtful, a little chaotic, and completely perfect. Of course, Rachel said yes. A few months later, Rachel returned the energy with a proposal of her own during a mini photoshoot at the Jefferson Memorial in DC—equally meaningful and just as unforgettable. Most recently, we welcomed our daughter into the world. Our greatest adventure yet. And somehow, what started as a “date that wasn’t a date” turned into everything we have today.
