On New Year's day 2020 Rachel's dear friend Tessa asked Kyle's neighbor Dan if he had any single friends. He said yea, my neighbor Kyle. Tessa asked Rachel if she wanted to go on a date with this fella Kyle and she said yes. Though when Kyle found out Rachel was 14 years younger he said, "no way I do not wanna go on a date with her." They planned to meet that Sunday for a double date but the Friday before they were meant to meet Rachel had this gut feeling to go to Natural Grocers so she trusted that knowing and made her way there. She did a couple of laps around the store and then got in line, and standing in front of her was Kyle. She asked him if that was him nervously and he said oh my gosh RACHEL!?! Kyle helped her carry her groceries out to her car and told her how he had had brain cancer and showed her his scar. Rachel got into her car overwhelmed by this unexpected encounter and was sure he was not the one. He wasn't visually what she thought she wanted and she almost canceled the date. Yet, she checked her ego and went on the date. She was so pleasantly surprised by how truly wonderful Kyle was. Kyle was also surprised by the age difference not really mattering because Rachel was so mature and he is so immature (haha). Things quickly progressed from that first double date, the first solo date being a full moon hike where both thought the other wasn't into it. Yet they kept hanging out and fast-forward to two and half months in they got stuck together at Kyle's house during the covid-19 lockdown. They decided hey let's give this thing a go and thankfully they still very much love each other to this day.

Kyle and Rachel's relationship has been anything but ordinary so are we surprised that this chapter is any different? After taking 6 months off of chemo in hopes Kyle's brain tumor would stay stable, unfortunately, I started to grow. As they left the oncologist, gutted at this news, Kyle said just as Rachel was thinking it, should we get married? The response was, yea? Which turned into let's really do this and the planning began quite quickly. Choosing 11/11/22 as the date for the powerful numerology meaning (new beginnings and fresh starts) and giving the ability to celebrate while Kyle is healthy before chemotherapy begins. These two are beyond thrilled to make this commitment to one another and enter into a fresh beginning that will be met with Kyle entering remission quickly.
