Lisbon is a beautiful location for our American and Indian family and friends to "meet in the middle". While we never imagined having a destination wedding, we are so thankful that you are considering traveling so far to join us on this journey. If you are unable to attend, we hope to celebrate with you in person in the near future :)
While Ubers are very accessible and convenient in the city, traffic is a frequent issue. Please target arriving at the church at least 10-15 minutes ahead of schedule to ensure you're able to be seated before the start of the ceremony.
Sunny and beautiful! Temperatures range from 17-19 C (63-66 F) in the morning / late night to 27-28 C (81-82 F) during the day. Not much rain is expected (knock on wood).
Yes! Our planner recommends reaching out to Terra do Nunca (www.aterradonunca.pt). Mention that you are part of the wedding for Karun and Rachel which is being planned by the group called Tales. They will explain the options available to you. If desired, you may have the option for your sitter to meet you at our reception venue and watch your children there instead of your hotel/Airbnb. However, please note that the room available for this is not very private, it's a small office/ room that can be accessed via a service entrance and there may be noise issues with the reception music and party being so close by. Your children will need to be in this separate area for the entire reception, but you are able to come & go to visit them if needed. If you need more information about this, please reach out to Rachel or Karun.
Make sure you have your passport and visa (if applicable) for when you enter the country. When looking for transportation from the airport, follow signs for Uber or the metro (whichever you are planning to take). If you are taking Uber, ensure you have phone service in order to call a car. The pickup location is very clear and convenient.
In general the airport is very convenient and accessible. However, the summer months will be very busy, so leave plenty of time for your departure. There is an expedited security line you can pay for, or utilize through airline status if available. Commentary from our February trip: - Do not forget you need to pass through passport control before boarding your flight. The majority of the airport lounges are after security and the duty free section but BEFORE immigration. Therefore, even though you're through security, make sure you leave enough time to go through an additional line for final passport control if you plan to stop in the lounges or spend time shopping duty free. - Electronic passport control was only available for people who entered the EU through Portugal, and others needed to go through the non-automated line. This may have been a "bug", but just ensure you wait in the correct line so you don't waste your own time.
