In the age of social media, Justin and I technically met through a dating app called Bumble. After some good conversation over the phone we quickly decided that we would like to meet in person. We set up a late lunch date at Cafe Arazu and agreed to meet there. Justin got there before me and sent a text saying "I'm in the black beater at the bar" and I thought to myself "interesting outfit choice for a first date but whatever." So I walk into the restaurant and start walking towards the bar and notice an older, rough-looking gentlemen sitting at the bar in a black "wife beater." He looked nothing like the person I had communicated with over the phone. So naturally I started to panic thinking that I had just been "Catfished". I didn't know whether I should walk up and confront this man or just turn and leave. I decided the best option was to just leave and as I was turning around I saw Justin in the corner at a table. Safe to say I was relieved that it was just a joke and the rest is history.
When Justin and I started talking about marriage, I told him from the get go that I wanted to be surprised when he proposed. In May of 2021 there was a jewelry store that was going out of business so we decided to go look at rings so Justin could get an idea of what I liked. It just so happens that I loved a ring that we found there. Justin didn't buy anything just yet and we went to a couple of other jewelry stores to look at the options. Then June rolls around and Justin and I took a long weekend to visit Justin's sister in Virginia for Justin's niece's birthday. We went to a winery on Friday and the birthday party was Saturday. Sunday we planned to go to another winery but we kept switching back and forth between whether we would go Sunday or Monday because of the weather. We ended up deciding to go Sunday and Justin's sister had planned a tour of the vineyard. As we are walking on the tour, I look over and see a cute set up between a couple rows of vines. I then noticed the pictures that were hanging up were of me and that's when I realized Justin was about to propose. The next few minutes were a blur. Justin got on one knee, said the sweetest words, offered me the ring that I fell in love with, and asked me to be his wife. Safe to say it was the biggest and best surprise and of course I said yes!
