Josh and I met the first year I moved to Washington. It was 6 months after the big move when my cousin and I went out to what I thought was going to be a fun night out at a bar. Little did I know Del Reds in Soap Lake, WA is a small town bar and not at all what I expected. For all my peeps in Texas who don't know, Soap Lake is a town of about 1,500 people; and this bar, maybe had 45 people... but everyone dressed like they were chillin at a backyard BBQ. Josh was there as he says, “the designated driver”. But I now know, he was actually there because he was too scared to be at home by himself. Too shy to come up to me himself, he asked my cousin what my name was. In his favor and to his surprise, my cousin was hoping I’d meet a man that would help me adjust to living in WA. So she grabbed his arm, walked him over to the booth I was sitting in, and said “this is Josh, he wanted to meet you”. However, that night didn’t end in his favor. He did not get my number liked he asked for and I purposely deleted the friend request he sent me from my phone on Facebook. He was devastated, I was unbothered! lol
Three months later and some tears shed by Josh, he came across the message he set himself from my Facebook when we first met. However, it wasn’t until we became Instagram friends and I viewed his photos that I had become at least curious about him. I noticed right away he’s a believer in Christ, he loves his family, he works, and he enjoys nature... so I messaged him back. And for about a year we chatted just like that, just here and there. It was mostly about Christ, future plans, current lifestyles, values, interest, and the occasional “want to hang out”. However, I always found a valid reason to say no, plus the drive was about 30-45 away to meet him. There was about two times I did meet up with him. First, I invited him to a church service with my sister, niece, and nephew. Second, we had Pizza Hut for lunch with my little sister. Josh says he lost hope in a relationship at this point and had even thought about not reaching out anymore, but he did, and in all good timing. I was willing to meet up with him by myself for the first time. As he was losing hope, I was gaining interest. Each time I met with him, it was like I found myself saying things like “I could marry a man LIKE him” or “That's the KIND OF man I could see myself marrying” And when we met each other for the first time by ourselves, an older couple sitting next to us urged me to give Josh a chance! That was the first time Josh told me he liked to cook. I remember thinking, “I’ve always wanted to marry a man who cooks”
We had lunch several more times after that before Josh asked to pursue me. I hesitated at first, a lot actually! Lol but I prayed about it and then gave him my yes to pursue me. A week later I was his girlfriend. Eventually, he proposed, and 3 weeks later we got married! Now it's time to join our families and celebrate. We hope you’ll join us!
