We met in college while attending Louisiana Tech—#GoDawgs! At first, we didn’t think much of each other, especially since I had been hired to be his math tutor. In fact, we didn’t even really like each other at the time, and we were both in long-term relationships. We spent countless hours studying and doing homework together until May of 2021, when I graduated. To my surprise, Joseph gave me a graduation card that day. When I asked why, he simply said, “Because you’re my friend.” After graduation, we kept in touch and remained friends. One of my college professors and mentors once told me, “Sometimes the right things in life don’t happen right now.” Joseph and I didn’t realize how true that was until December 12, 2021. By then, we had both moved on from relationships that weren’t right for us—and we decided to take a chance on each other. Our journey began in 2021 as peers, and we ended the year as friends and partners. Now, we know this is just the beginning. We’re so excited to dedicate our love and lives to one another, and we feel truly blessed to share our story with y’all.
