One night after work Rachel went out with a few co-workers to Eastbound. One of the co-workers, Denise, invited her officer buddy, Jeff. That was the first night Jeff laid eyes on Rachel. A few days later, Rachel is working and gets a message from that same officer and messages exchanged then evetually phone numbers. (Just as friends of course) They became close due to working the same shift. One day Jeff was positioned on perimeter for a long, boring, drawn out, and anticlimatic SWAT callout. Jeff spent all night texting Rachel. Topics included their youth, current events, and most importantly, Rachel’s son,Jackson. Rachel started to think he was sweet. Then December rolls around and its the night before Jackson’s birthday...Rachel has to drive up to North County to pick up his birthday cupcakes, but its pouring rain and Rachel hates driving in the rain. Jeff knows this and drives down to Lakeside, picks up Rachel then drives all the way up to North County, finally driving Rachel home. This was the night Rachel fell in love with him. His thoughtfulness and caring heart all for Rachel and Jackson continues today. They have become a family in the past 4 years and can not wait to share their official joining and celebrate at the reception with everyone!

Jeff and Rachel were planning a trip for their family up to the high Sierras for Rachel's birthday week. Unbeknownst to Rachel, Jeff was planning on proposing on one of their hikes. Well...then the big major Covid shut down began and trip was cancelled. This sent Jeff into panic (for him) mode. Rachel's birthday was April 3rd and he wanted to do it before then. That left April 1st, which would be mean to do it on, or April 2nd! He asked Rachel if she wanted to go on a family hike that day which she found that Torrey Pines was still open amidst the shut down so off the family went! Jackson was in on the surprise and he and Jeff had code words set up and Jackson would record the whole thing on mom's phone. Jeff was sneaky and knows Rachel loves taking photos so when she thought he was just being nice he stunned her by getting down on one knee. Rachel said YES of course after being completely shocked! The fam finished the hike while the whole way Rachel called and texted family the great news!
