While we had known of each other through mutual friends in San Diego, we actually went to two different high schools. It wasn’t until college that we began to hang out, still in larger groups, during summer and winter breaks away from Gonzaga and USC. After graduating college in 2020, we both found ourselves in San Diego again, navigating the COVID-19 pandemic. We started spending more and more time together, now without our mutual friends. It was then that we found out our parents' houses were less than 1 mile apart! One of our first dates was a picnic at Coronado Island. From that moment on, we began to fall in love and made numerous memories together as we explored San Diego’s eateries, breweries, malls, and hikes. In 2022, Rachel began a MBA program through Dayton University and Jason moved to Phoenix to begin medical school at the University of Arizona. While we had to jump into a long-distance relationship, we still found ways to visit each other and remained connected. Years after our first date, Rachel again arrived at Coronado Island for what she thought was a picnic with her friends. Instead, Jason got down on one knee and proposed to her. We are so excited to continue building our life together and thrilled to share our special days with you! On Friday we will be celebrating Jason's culture with a Hindu ceremony, and on Saturday we will be getting married in the Catholic Church!
