There's no such thing as coincidences, and God knew exactly what was going to happen... The first day back to Pullman, second semester of freshman year, Jacob and Rachel went to eat dinner with their friends on campus. Rachel’s girlfriend she was with happened to know the guy friend Jacob was with from their hometown. So the four of them sat together and dined in Hillside Cafe. At dinner Jacob and Rachel realized they had actually met once before at a WSU volleyball game, supporting their mutual friend on the team. Clearly, they were bound to meet again in the little town of Pullman, Washington. After their dinner in Hillside Cafe, Jacob immediately asked for Rachel’s number. The two of them spent every night of syllabus week hanging out, partying, and getting to know each other. Wasting no time at all, three weeks later, they made their relationship official and spent the rest of their college experience together. 4 years, 10 college formals, 2 spring break trips, and countless Cougar football Saturdays, has led to a lot of fun memories. Their favorite memory is graduating together, which Jacob can give a lot of his credit to Rachel for.
After graduating from WSU, Jacob and Rachel moved into her parents house and started their professional careers. They celebrated by going on a cruise to Mexico, visiting Disneyland, and took a trip to Lake Chelan. In a matter of days, everything changed. When the pandemic made it’s presence known, Jacob and Rachel had a never before opportunity to assess their goals and priorities and try something new. After a spontaneous trip to Nashville, Tennessee, the two of them decided to pack up everything they owned (which all fit inside Jacob’s Jetta) and drive to the land of country music, hot chicken, and whiskey. They spent one amazing year living downtown Nashville, eating and drinking their way through the neon lights. What came as a quick decision to leave Tennessee and move to Arizona for a job opportunity was difficult yet bittersweet. Once again, the Lord knew exactly what He had planned next for them.
Upon moving to Phoenix, Jacob and Rachel quickly found their close group of friends. The immediate community surrounding them kept them busy and grateful. Going to church has been a leading part of their relationship since moving to Arizona and the time was right to finally pop the question. Jacob surprised Rachel by taking her to Papago Park for a “couples photoshoot” for their friend’s photography business. The last shot in the park was as picture perfect as one could make it. He ran up behind her, whispered in her ear, and turned her around while he got down on one knee. Entirely surprised, Rachel teared up and said, YES. Six months later, their dream of owning a home became a reality in again, a very sudden change of plans. Now the two of them are learning what it means to be homeowners, the projects that come along with it, and the constant upkeep. But they are beyond grateful and proud to be in this stage of life and learning and growing together. Thank you for visiting and celebrating with us in our new home. We are thankful for you all and cannot wait to see you in Phoenix this November. XOXO Jacob & Rachel
