In the fall of 2021, Rachel had moved from her hometown of Jupiter, FL up to the panhandle in Gulf Breeze to be closer to her sister who just moved to Louisiana, and to work at a local private practice as a therapist. Shortly there after, Garrett moved back to the states from being stationed in Rota, Spain with the US Navy, and would now be stationed in Pensacola, FL. When he first came back to the states, his friend and Navy buddy, Wayne, let Garrett stay at his place for the time being. During this time, Wayne started dating Katy, whom was a social worker at the same practice Rachel was a therapist at. Both Wayne & Katy realized they had two single friends, and decided to matchmake from there. In December 2021, Katy invited both Garrett and Rachel to her birthday dinner at a local Hibachi restaurant in Gulf Breeze. The day of said dinner, Garrett had messaged Rachel and offered to buy her dinner that night, even though the two had never met. Rachel arrived at the restaurant, and found Katy, Wayne, and all of Katy's family filling up the table, with two empty seats at the end. Not long after, Garrett walked in, and sat in the vacant seat next to Rachel. After some hibachi, ice cream, and a night of laughs, Rae & G kept talking and going on dates. On January 10, 2022, Rae came home from work, and found a dozen roses and a stuffed bear on her parents' kitchen island with a note that said "Will you be my girlfriend? -Garrett." Since then we have been inseparable. On March 30, 2024, while out with Rae's family for Easter in New Orleans, we stopped in Jackson Square and that is where Garrett asked Rachel to marry him! Now, we cannot wait to say "I do" on March 1, 2025.
