Our venue has several ceremony locations and reception halls. Our hall is the Sage Hall. Please follow the signs for Sage Hall (it's one of the first ones) Our ceremony is UNPLUGGED! Please, please do not take pictures during the ceremony or other important parts of the evening. After ignoring each other for months in high school, we were put into a group to do a project for English. Garrett was eating Subway and I was jealous of the food and assumed he wouldn't work hard on the project, so I told him I would do all the work and he could put his name on the final product. I was an overachiever and couldn't risk getting a grade below 100. Of course, Garrett had to have an amazing, one-of-a-kind personality, so I couldn't resist letting him help. We would talk all the time, even after the project was finished (with a good grade). After that project, we moved to sit next to each other in another class we had, and looked forward to seeing each other every day. We had no idea we would be with each other for the rest of our lives! July 12, 2022 will be our 6th anniversary.
We talked about the proposal long before it came. I told Garrett to give me a range of months that the proposal would happen in so I could have my nails done. He told me it would happen in summer and I overthought everything Garrett did once it hit June 1st. We went to set up at church and I thought it would happen there. We went to the Pearl and I thought it would happen there. As it was, on our second planned date, we went to breakfast, Trader Joe's, and a movie. When I found out we were seeing a movie, I was convinced it wasn't going to happen. The plans that day had been changed last minute, so I wasn't sure it would happen. We went to one more place before we were going to have dinner (I didn't know where we were going) and we ended up at the Canyon Lake Dam. I was a little suspicious because when was I not? When we were walking on the dam, conversation was normal, so I didn't think it would happen. When we had walked a good way out, Garrett turned to me, grabbed my hands, and started talking. I can't remember what he said because my mind was clouded with joy. We turned around after he proposed and saw Garrett's brother, Aaron, standing in his bright construction vest and my dad standing there recording everything with his wig and a shirt and tie on. It was perfect! When we were walking back to the cars, a sheriff's deputy drove up to check out the situation. Apparently, someone reported my dad for suspicious behavior because he was wearing a tie. Not the wig! The tie. Everything was fine with the deputy and we went along to dinner with our families!
