If you want the short version, here it is: We met through a mutual friend at a bar on Cinco de Mayo. Shout out to Michael McGowan! If you want the detailed version, here it is: While at the aforementioned bar where we met, Elijah was dancing like a fool while I was creepily watching and judging. He then spoke his first words to me: "You're killing my vibe." Romantic, I know. All I thought was "he's totally right," so I simply nodded in agreement and walked away. Three months later, after I'd moved to Austin, I ACCIDENTALLY sent him an unimpressive video of a cat over Instagram. Even though he hates cats, that seemed to get his attention and I scored his number. Over each of my multiple trips home for the holidays that year, I talked him into taking me on dates, each of which was an absolute disaster in its own comical way. Elijah eventually won me over with a frozen popcorn shrimp meal, and five short months later we were moving in together in Austin! Point of the story is I made every move (Elijah hates that detail), but I would do it all again 100 times. Cheers to a lifetime of disorder and chaos!
Rachel pretty much nailed it! I just want to add that holidays were big for us... Cinco De Mayo - We met Thanksgiving - We went on our first date Christmas - We started dating Valentine's Day - We spent the night in the hospital from Rachel eating herself into a bowel obstruction (3/18) Day After Saint Patricks Day - We will all spend together celebrating and nursing hangovers So here's to Rachel making me feel like the luckiest man alive every day, not just holidays. And here's to all of you for being in our lives. Cheers to an Irish wedding!
