Question

Where is Waterford?

Answer

Waterford is on the southeast coast of Ireland, about two hours from Dublin. Waterford is the oldest city in Ireland and was settled by the Vikings. It is home to Waterford Crystal, founded in 1783.

Question

How do I get there?

Answer

We recommend flying into Dublin and taking the train or renting a car to Waterford. More information can be found on the travel page.

Question

What is the time difference?

Answer

Ireland is 6 hours ahead of US Central time (12:00 pm noon Central time = 6:00 pm in Ireland). Most flights from the US are overnight. We recommend getting in a couple days before the wedding so you can adjust to the jet lag.

Question

What is the weather like?

Answer

Ireland is typically cooler than most parts of the US in September, with average temperatures in the high 50s.

Question

What time is the wedding ceremony?

Answer

The ceremony will be at 2 pm followed by light bites and beverages in the garden marquee before the reception.

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

We are requesting formal dress. Depending on the weather, the ceremony may take place outside. Due to the cool temps, we recommend wearing layers with a jacket or wrap.

Question

Should I wear a hat?

Answer

Hats or fascinators are often worn by women at Irish weddings. We would love to see you in a hat but it is by no means necessary! You can find them online or they can be purchased/rented at shops in Waterford and Dublin: Ruby's Hat Hire (Waterford): www.rubyshathire.ie Hat Society Hat Hire & Sales (Dublin): www.hatsociety.ie Costelloe + Costelloe (Dublin): https://costelloeandcostelloe.com/collections/fascinators?page=3
