Located around Capitol Square, the Dane County Farmer's Market is a Saturday tradition in Madison. The market is open from 6:15 AM to 1:45 PM and includes dozens of vendors. Don't forget to grab a loaf of Stella's Spicy Cheese Bread during your visit! The State Capitol building is also open during the market. For a great view of the city, follow the signs posted near the stairs and elevators to find your way to the Observation Deck.
The Terrace at the Memorial Union is one of Madison's most iconic locations, with 2,000 brightly colored starburst chairs located along Lake Mendota. While the Wisconsin Union is a membership organization, all are welcome to visit but you may be asked to purchase a $1 day pass if no one in your group is an existing member. If the weather allows, get an order of cheese curds and a pitcher of Spotted Cow and grab a terrace chair to enjoy the view! If you're looking for an indoor activity, Der Rathskeller offers a full menu and will air the Badger Game on the big screen in their beer hall inspired space.
State Street is Madison's famous pedestrian-only (except for buses, look both ways when crossing!) street that connects the State Capitol to the center of the University of Wisconsin's campus, known as Bascom Hill. State Street and the surrounding blocks are filled with many restaurants, bars, shopping, and even a few campus libraries.
The Badgers will kickoff at 11:00 AM Saturday against Rutgers and the area around Camp Randall will be filled with fans bright and early that morning. You can wander Breese Terrace and Lathrop Street to partake in the tailgate activities or stop into one of the bars along Regent Street for a pre-game beverage to celebrate.
If you'll be arriving in Madison on Friday, check out the events hosted by the Wisconsin Alumni Association on Friday evening including the Homecoming Parade and Block Party/Pep Rally
