The wedding is on a farm and we are not very formal people! The term we've been using is "wedding casual," generally shirts with collars, slacks, blouses, skirts, and dresses. We will be happy to have you there in the clothes that make you most comfortable. Wear sensible shoes!
There will be goats at Windy Hill! The goats are very sweet and cute but they are farm animals, not pets. Please do not feed the goats or chase the goats. If a goat approaches you and you wish to touch it in a gentle and consensual fashion, that is fantastic! We will have hand sanitizer on site.
We will have outdoor games like giant Jenga and cornhole, a tree swing, a hay ride, kid-friendly food, and popsicles.
The wedding and reception will end by 8 PM.
We each have our own households established so we don't need very much! The biggest gift we are asking for is help on the day of our wedding. We've included a few things in case you want to give something tangible you can admire in our home later, but we are also highlighting some of our favorite (mostly local) nonprofits that we'd invite you to support. Feel free to give to the nonprofits via the different Zola funds if that feels simpler or directly to them if you'd like to get the tax deduction letter.
Rachel lived at Windy Hill during the summer of 2013 when she was interning at Anathoth Community Garden. When we were trying to figure out a place to get married, we thought Windy Hill would be a lot of fun for kids to get to interact with goats and we love how the stewards of Windy Hill (the Gledhills) care for the land - using solar power and regenerative agriculture as they grow blueberries, figs, muscadine grapes, garlic, and more. We are also excited to support Boricua Soul (a local restaurant that reminds us of our vacation in Puerto Rico) and Moo Kho Paw's flower business through Transplanting Traditions.
