We were first introduced online, using a dating app called Tinder. After a few weeks of talking we met at Village Tap, a local bar. Four hours and a few drinks later, it was clear that our meeting was not by chance. Living only a few blocks from each other, we frequented some of the same places including our favorite neighborhood yoga studio, Om on the Range.
On vacation in Peru, some incredible moments were shared including hiking the Inca Trail. Rachel had secretly hoped Chris had plans to ask her in the near future, but when their time at Macchu Picchu came and went, so did the fleeting thoughts of getting engaged. It wasn’t until a few days later, in a city called Huaraz, that they embarked on a day hike to Laguna 69. On the hike up, Rachel was battling some altitude sickness. As always, Chris was nothing but patient and caring as they stopped for what seemed like every 100 feet to take a breather. Struggling to reach the 15,000 feet above sea level summit, they had finally arrived. With a sigh of relief, Rachel stopped to ask someone to photograph them in front of the picturesque turquoise blue lake situated in front of snow covered glaciers (photo evidence below). Posing for the photo, Rachel went to sit on Chris' lap not knowing the ring was in his pocket. Mortified that Rachel had felt or damaged the ring, Chris kept it together. Leaning in for a hug, Rachel was surprised to find Chris on his way to one knee mumbling sweet phrases that neither of them can honestly remember. In that instant, the altitude sickness was gone and tears filled the space. Once the moment passed, to their pleasant surprise, a couple from France had captured the entire thing on video!
