Driving:
For those coming from Charlottesville, the drive is about 10 hours, but isn't a bad option. Chris and I drove twice in 2024, and plan to drive for the wedding.
Flying to Notre Dame:
You can fly into South Bend (SBN), and that’s probably easiest. The airport is small enough that rental cars and security are really smooth.
Alternatively, you can fly into Indianapolis (IND, 2.5 h drive to South Bend) or Chicago (ORD or MDW, 1.5 h drive to South Bend) and rent a car. Even though it’s a little further away, we will often fly into Indy and drive from there, rather than from Chicago since Indy is so much easier to get in and out of (far less traffic). If you do choose to fly into Chicago, there’s a train (South Shore Line, https://mysouthshoreline.com/) that goes from ORD into South Bend.
Hotels: Embassy Suites and Fairfield Inn & Suites are right next to campus, and walking distance from the Basilica. Hilton Garden Inn is also a great option. Links below.
