In the most 21st century dating style, we met online. To this day neither of us know how "exactly" we connected when Cass was over 45 miles away from Rachel and had deleted his dating app 6 months prior. Maybe the mystery makes our story that much better. After exchanging messages for a few days, Cass asked Rachel if she wanted to get dinner. She almost cancelled last minute with a terrible headache, but she remembered that Cass wouldn’t be available for another month, she decided to give it a shot. We met at Taqueria Tsunami, and from the very first moment, the conversation was effortless and fun. We talked about everything. Before we knew it, Rachel’s pain totally forgotten, the server came over to our table to tell us the restaurant was closing. We left, walked to Rachel’s car, and stood talking for at least another hour. We finished the night off with a hug and a good feeling we would definitely be seeing each other again soon.
One of our favorite date activities is to go to Atlanta United games. We’ve fallen in love with the sport, and this past season we went to 8 games, so Cass knew the final championship game was the perfect place to pop the question. It was a miserable rainy night. Atlanta wins (Vamos ATL!) and we couldn’t be more excited to have witnessed this moment in person—Atlanta’s first sports championship in 23 years! As we flood out of the stadium with 73,000 other ecstatic people, Cass asked if we could take a picture by the falcon. Although something people often do at the stadium, it was pouring, packed, and not the night for pictures. Reluctantly, Rachel helped look for someone nearby to take a picture. Little did she know, Cass actually asked someone to take a video (and the random stranger was totally unaware of what was about to take place). We stood together in front of the falcon and Cass points to Rachel’s left and says, "Hey, isn't that Ben?" Naturally, Rachel turns to look, but sees no one and turns back around to find Cass down on one knee, ring box open in hand. Answering the easiest question ever, Rachel said yes! The crowd around us cheered for the second time that night!
