This love story began on a little app called Bumble. A surprising match as Rachel, residing in Gramercy, had her radius set to < 5 miles while Carlos was residing in Manhasset, Long Island at the time (~20 miles away). Needless to say these two both swiped right and enjoyed a four-hour first date over cocktails at Harding's. Soon after, a second date followed with the evening ending at a seemingly under the radar rooftop bar, Broken Shaker, at the Freehand hotel. Many dates thereafter ended at Broken Shaker allowing Rachel and Carlos to become friends with the doorman, also named Carlos, who referred to Rachel as Mrs. Carlos... he was onto something. Months later Rachel's friends and family descended on Manhattan to enjoy a long-awaited Yacht-Mitzvah in celebration of Rachel's 30th. Rachel, always looking for a laugh, decided to play a prank on her father by convincing Carlos they should wear matching wedding bands to the event without saying anything. Carlos decided to go a step further and turn the joke around on Rachel by pulling Tim (Rachel's father) into the joke and asking if he could pretend to be upset with Rachel. Fooled at first, Rachel soon realized the switcheroo and all enjoyed a good laugh! It was at that moment that Carlos established himself as a member of the Cowlishaw clan and has enjoyed several holidays and vacations with both Tim and Ben (Rachel's brother), as well as her extended family. Similarly, Rachel was quickly welcomed by the Kramers as she traveled abroad with Carlos to meet them in the spring of 2022. A trip to Madrid with Carlos's sister, Laura, who lives in Israel, full of laughter and delicious food. Followed by a week in Uruguay to stay with Carlos's mother, Gina. This trip included more delicious food, trips to the beach, and strolling the beautiful streets of Montevideo. Rachel and Gina quickly bounded over a love of flea shopping and wine. Serendipitously, Tim and Gina got to meet on a recent trip to New York in September 2022. Tim was in town for the Cowboys while Gina was visiting for two weeks, of which she was a part of a two-day sprint of wedding dress shopping. Upon meeting, Gina’s initial remarks to Tim included, “this was fast, no?” of which Tim agreed with a laugh. Both acknowledging that anyone who’s met these two knows they were going to end up together. Rachel and Carlos can't wait to be joined by family and friends in the city that they love and share with their corgi, Archie. They sincerely appreciate those traveling near and far to celebrate the union of their marriage next year!
