Biedenharn Garden and Museum
Biedenharn is a must for a quick visit! It has a beautiful walk through garden, and is also home to the first bottler of Coca-Cola. Visitors can purchase a tour of the Coca-Cola museum, and then see the gardens! Fun fact: this is where Caden proposed!
Surge Entertainment by Drew Brees
This is a great place to go if you are traveling with kids! They have a bowling alley, golf simulators, and arcade games! There is also a restaurant and bar inside! This is actually where we went on our first date, so of course we had to recommend!
Flying Heart Brewing & Pub - West Monroe
The best brewery and pizza place in town! We recommend the Bre-Pow pizza and the classic pepperoni! Good food and great atmosphere! It's also located in downtown Monroe which has lots of shops within walking distance of the restaurant! Definitely a staple when we're in Monroe!
Parish Restaurant & Bar
This is one of the most luxurious dining experiences we've ever had! A very upscale and elevated restaurant with delicious food! A great place for a date night! The original duck wraps and the deviled farm eggs are a must when ordering!
Black Bayou Lake National Wildlife Refuge
A great place to visit to experience Louisiana's wildlife and scenery! There is a pier that allows you to walk right on the bayou! You may have the opportunity to see alligators and bald eagles around! This is also where Caden and Brendan like to fish!
Duck Commander Warehouse
This is probably what some people think of when you hear about Monroe, LA, so might as well visit while you're here! This is the same store from the TV show "Duck Dynasty" and it is still open today! They have tours of the warehouse and a giftshop inside!
Louisiana Tech University
Where we met and went to college! We both lived in the dorm building "Harper A" and still drive by every once in a while to see it! We recommend going to walk through the Quad and going to see our graduation bricks! They are located right beside the bridge over the traintracks and behind the baseball field! Caden graduated in 2023 and Rachel graduated in 2024!
Bayou Billiards
This is where we worked throughout college! Back then, it used to be called "Bayou Axe" and had axe throwing lanes, but now they have been replaced with pool tables. Rachel was a bartender and Caden was a pizza chef! Brendan (brother of the bride / best man) also worked here as a server and "axe-pert"! Forever one of our favorite parts of college!
Beau Vines Steakhouse
Our most favorite place and the best steakhouse in Ruston! We have spent every anniversary dinner here for the last 5 years and it's always our go to for any special occasion or date night! Definitely don't leave without ordering the fried oreo beignets for dessert!
