We met how most people do nowadays... on the apps! Rachel sent Bob a Rose (Superlike) on Hinge on 7/24/21 and commented on Bob's profile prompt: "Something that's non-negotiable for me is: being nice to people, even if they get your Starbucks order wrong." That's the prompt that started it all... She hit Bob with this zinger: "Agreed! And even if they spell your name wrong... although Bob is probably hard to mess up." As you can tell, we both are expert flirts, which is why it worked out so well! Our first date was at Shiki Sushi. We really hit it off, talking about everything from Rachel's obsession with Harry Potter to Bob's pandemic Dungeons and Dragons podcast rabbit hole. At the end of the date, Bob walked Rachel to her car and gave her a quick kiss goodnight. This almost derailed EVERYTHING! Before the second date, Rachel needed to be convinced by her amazing mom and maid of honor to go on a second date. One thing to note, Rachel is a true crime podcast connoisseur. So when Bob offered to pick her up and drive together, Rachel responded "Bro... I've watched too many true crime docs to drive in a car with someone I just met." We ended up having an amazing time, and Rachel warmed up to Bob enough that he was allowed to make her dinner and blackberry cobbler. Over the next few months, Rachel realized that this could be the real thing--something Bob had figured out very early on. We both enhanced each other's lives and introduced each other to new experiences. For Bob that meant going to spin classes and watching more scary movies than he would prefer. For Rachel that meant participating in Bob's nerd activities from time to time and becoming a devout SNL viewer. But the true winner was Millie. She now had two loving parents and regular grooming appointments thanks to Bob! Fast forward to New Years Eve 2022. We spontaneously drove up to Syracuse to surprise Bob's family for their Christmas party. This wasn't the only surprise though... Bob used this completely impromptu trip as a cover to propose to Rachel at the family pond. Immediately after saying yes and almost falling in, Rachel declared "I need to call my mom!" On the car ride home, Rachel said "no wedding planning until AFTER the Argentina trip." This proved to be false... welcome to the result of all that planning!
