We wanted to share with you both sides of the story and have you decide who remembers it best! RACHEL'S VERSION: "The first time I met Adam was at Books-A-Million in Mt. Juliet, where I was attending a coed Bible study by myself. I have been going to this study for a while, but didn’t really feel connected. I took a little bit of a break and then on a cold night in February I decided to give it another shot. That night I noticed a new face sitting across from me—Adam Ross. A few weeks went by, and I didn’t see him again. Eventually, I offered to host Bible study at my house since we kept getting kicked out of the bookstore for staying too late. On the very first night I hosted, I got a group message from Adam asking what he could bring. After some back-and-forth (me insisting he didn’t need to bring anything), we finally landed on fried raviolis. Adam showed up with homemade fried raviolis, homemade marinara sauce, and margaritas! I remember thinking, holy cow, this man knows me to a tee—and we’ve only talked once or twice! From that night on, we hit it off so well that hosting Bible study became my top priority - canceling softball games, girls' nights out and even bar shifts just so I could see Adam (and maybe enjoy a little more of his amazing homemade food). After a few months of getting to know each other at Bible study, Adam asked me out to dinner and a country music concert. And you better believe I ordered a margarita on our first date!" ADAM'S VERSION: “I joined a small group at my church that met every Thursday at Books a million in Mt. Juliet. My first day at this new small group was December 9th, 2021. I remember calling my mom before walking in saying how 'I hope these people are cool'. My mom, being my mom, had high hopes that I might meet someone. I called my mom afterwards to tell her about it saying something along the lines of “this may not be a good fit; I don’t relate to anyone here”. And her replying “just try a few more times. Maybe you’ll find someone.” February 17th, 2022 was the first night Rachel came. First thought I had about Rachel, besides how beautiful she was, was how she really wanted to lead the small group because no one was taking charge. After we wrapped up, everyone migrated next door to Jonathan’s Grille. Everyone ordered water or Coke until Rachel confidently said, “I’ll have a margarita.” Finally. Someone who drinks! I immediately ordered Miller Lite. Fast forward a long 3 weeks later and Rachel finally convinced the group to have the small group meet at her place on March 10th. Since I did not have Rachel’s number yet, I messaged her on GroupMe asking her if we were drinking margaritas at her house for Bible study? I remember going to the liquor store thinking “I need to buy good tequila but not too good of tequila, because I knew this girl would judge me based on my liquor taste. Later that day I spent hours rolling southwest egg rolls and frying them up fresh because I wanted her to know that I knew how to cook. I walked into her house and I was one of the first ones there. Rachel was wearing a white tank top, dark jeans, a brown belt and was putting laundry in the dryer that she needed to dry before everyone else showed up. I would still message Rachel on occasion asking her "What I should make or bring to Bible study?", "Where are you sitting at church?", or any other excuse I could come up with to message her.
