Steps from the White House, this small Smithsonian gallery featuring contemporary craft and decorative arts is Rachel's favorite. It's much smaller than the other museums, so you can easily stop by while sightseeing. No tickets are required.
Spend a day like Rachel and Adam! Stroll down M Street or Wisconsin to shop and dine in some of our favorite local spots. Our favorites include Das for Ethiopian food, The Sovereign for Belgian beers, Il Canale for pizza, and Cafe Georgetown for coffees.
Adam's recommendation is to try new foods! With DC being such an international city, you can find restaurants for almost every cuisine imaginable. If you don't know where to begin, give Ethiopian a try. It's wildly popular here in the city. If you'd like a dining recommendation, send us a message!
The Smithsonian that we send all our visitors to is the National Museum of American History. From its exhibits on science and technology to food and fashion, you can see collections on all slices of American life. There's over 3 million artifacts inside, so plan to spend at least a few hours exploring. Highlights in this museum include seeing the ruby slippers from The Wizard of Oz and Abraham Lincoln's top hat. If history and pop culture aren't in your interests, then you should opt for the Smithsonian's Air and Space Museum or one of the many other Smithsonian museums along the National Mall. Remember all the Smithsonian museums have free entry!
