See our engagement live in action!
Once upon a time, at the University of Idaho, there were two adolescent party go'ers. One was a young man named Spencer, and the other was a lovely young woman named Rachel. They first crossed paths in his fraternity where their eyes met for a brief moment before they were pulled away by the demands of their respective relationships. (As Spencer remembers it, he said there was a light shining down on Rachel and that was it). Years passed and their paths never crossed again, until one day, fate brought them back together at a mutual friend's house in Seattle, Washington. They reconnected and quickly realized that the spark they felt in that first encounter all those years ago was still there. They began dating and soon realized that they were meant to be.
We decided to treat ourselves with a trip to Oahu to get away on a vacation and visit Rachel's childhood best friend Jacqui, who previously moved to Hawaii. During our trip, we decided to go on a hike to a remote cave with an overarching waterfall, located deep in the mountains. We had heard about it from a friend of Jacqui, who had recently visited the place and highly recommended it. As we hiked deeper into the mountains, the scenery became more and more breathtaking. Finally, we reached the cave and were awestruck by the beauty of the waterfall cascading down from above. As we stood there in awe, Spencer took my hand and got down on one knee. Rachel was completely surprised and overjoyed as I said the words, "Rachel, I love you more than anything in this world. Will you marry me?" She said yes! The moment was captured on film their tour guide, who was a friend of Jacqui and had been filming the entire engagement with his GoPro camera. From that day on, we knew that the engagement at the waterfall cave was not only a symbol of our love for each other, but also a symbol of our love for adventure and the great outdoors. We can't wait to start the next chapter of our lives together as husband and wife!
