Through a series of impossible to repeat events, Jorge and I ended up working at a Cinemark movie theater at the same time. The story began with a terrible customer. And as much as I hope to never see or interact with a customer so rude and awful; she was the reason we connected. Driven to tears, I had to take a breather in the back. Jorge came to find me and said, "Let me buy you a drink after work." So when we got off two hours later, we headed to the Reserve Bar at the theater. And thus we became drinking buddies. We would sit at the bar for half an hour to an hour after work almost every day for a month. Then we decided to actually see a movie together on a day off. I got to the bar first and our favorite bartender, Carlos, goes, "So is this yours and Jorge's first date?" I laugh and go, "Oh, no we're just friends." "Sure sure. We'll see." he replied. And at that moment, I started thinking, "Oh man. Jorge is hilarious and attractive, and awesome. Damn I'm into him." Thanks for that, Carlos. Really sped up the process for us. Then came the email. From Medieval Times. A 12 hour commercial shoot, free food, fun time, do you want in? I searched high and low looking for some crazy person that would sit with me for 12 hours watching horses and knights fighting. No one. And then I thought what the heck, and looked at Jorge and said, "Want to do something dumb and crazy?" without any context. His immediate reply; "Hell yes. What is it?" And I was sold. We went, spent 12 hours together as the first time to hang out outside of the theater, and had a hell of a time. As a first date, it was real strong indicator that if we could spend 12 hours with each other and not ever get bored with the conversation, and never want it to end, we could definitely do this thing.
