Who would’ve thought we’d meet our soulmates in a co-ed kickball league? Shoutout to ClubWaka for bringing us together! At the end of 2021, Rachel was living in Delray Beach and decided to make the move to West Palm Beach. In search of new friends, she joined a kickball team. Cam, on the other hand, joined a team with his friends at the last minute that same season. And that’s where fate stepped in. Rachel missed the first two games of the season, so her first game was actually against Cam’s team. Her team lost, and afterward, they all headed to the bar. As Rachel was walking out of the parking garage in downtown West Palm Beach, Cam happened to turn around and saw her. He casually said, “Oh, didn’t we just beat you?” and that’s how they started talking. They chatted for a bit, but that was that. The following week, Cam was looking for Rachel at the bar but didn’t find her—she was out of town. The week after that, Rachel went to a game, and her team was playing surprisingly well. She made it to third base, and in another twist of fate, Cam was reffing third base. As the game went on, Rachel found herself back on third, and with a smile, she told Cam, “You must be my lucky charm, because I don’t normally play this well!” After the game, Cam walked up to Rachel and said, “Since I’m your lucky charm, can I have your number?” Rachel gave him her number, and an hour later, Cam showed up at the bar. From that moment on, they were inseparable. And that’s exactly how the love story of Cam and Rachel began. ♡
On September 1, 2024, at Mount Rainier National Park, Cam asked me to marry him! ♡ We had been dreaming about a national park getaway for a while, so we finally decided to fly across the country to explore the Pacific Northwest. We started our adventure with a day in Seattle before heading to a cute little town just an hour outside the park, where we were blown away by the stunning views of Mount Rainier everywhere you turned. We even stopped by a local brewery and met some friendly locals along the way. For the next few days, we hiked through the park and just enjoying each other’s company. On day three, we decided to end the day with a sunset picnic at Reflection Lake. We packed a bottle of wine, a cozy blanket, and a charcuterie board to enjoy the moment. Before setting everything up, we took a walk around the lake to figure out the perfect spot. Then, Cam pulled out the ring and asked me to marry him. It was exactly what I had been hoping for—and more. Needless to say, it was the easiest "yes" ever. Cam had also planned ahead and hired a photographer to capture the special moment, so we’ll have photos to look back on forever. After we called our family and friends to share the news, we headed back to town and ran into the locals we’d met at the brewery on the first day. We celebrated together, clinking our beers and finally enjoying the charcuterie board we missed earlier—it was such a sweet way to end the day. The next few days were spent celebrating our engagement in a cozy cabin by the ocean near Olympic National Park. We cooked, grilled, hiked, and just relaxed. It was the perfect way to unwind and kick off this new chapter in our lives. We can’t wait to come back someday and bring our future kids to these exact spots.
