To our friends and family: We're so excited to celebrate our wedding with you. Find all the details you need to know about our big day here.
We are so happy to share this special day with you but we know that not everyone can make it to India for our beautiful day. We will be having a pre-wedding send off party in Noblesville, Indiana on May 6th 2023 . The wedding events will be held in Kochi, India on May 20-21st 2023.
We went to the same college but always almost met for years before texting each other on December 23rd 2019. We finally met on the 26th and spent almost every day together since.
Throughout our relationship, I have learned a lot about Racheal and where she is from, and one of the things I have enjoyed most is experiencing all of the different holidays and celebrations through her religion and culture that I had never participated in before. One such holiday is known as Onam, which is an annual holiday celebrated by many Indians from Racheal's home state of Kerala, India. Onam is a harvest festival celebrating the traditions and history of Kerala, with many Indians across the world commemorating the event with remarkable foods and dances and activities. Due to restrictions the past couple of years, this was the first year Racheal and I were finally able to celebrate Onam together, and I decided early on that I wanted to propose on that day. Leading up to the day of the festival, I was really nervous about what I should do or say to make it perfect. Should I get a photographer to hide and capture the proposal? Where should we go? Should we go to a park? Should I ask her at the festival? There were so many options. Since moving to Richmond, VA, though, we never landed on a place that truly felt like "our spot" more than our apartment; it was our own place in the world. And when I saw her looking beautiful in her traditional sari clothing in the days preceding the event, I wanted to propose on the spot. So, while running errands early on the day of the festival, I got her flowers in her favorite color and made sure everything would be ready. Before leaving for the festival, I told her I wanted to take some photos of her since she looked so gorgeous. I got out my phone and set it to the side, telling her I was setting a photo timer but secretly setting it to take video instead, and after grabbing a polaroid camera we only used for special occasions, I positioned her on her favorite chair in our reading area. Just before snapping the picture of her, I pulled out the ring and asked her to spend the rest of our lives together. The picture is now my favorite picture I've ever taken, with her face of realization and surprise immortalized forever. In that moment, we both knew we didn't need a photographer or a park or anything like that; we just needed a moment to ourselves - a snapshot in time in our own corner of the world. I look forward to many more Onams and celebrations with Racheal, and we look forward to enjoying our wedding with all of you.
