First comes chicken, them comes marriage... To make a short story long, Rachael was working at Chick-fil-A with one of Rob's best friends and roommates, Ryan O'Keefe and his girlfriend at the time, Emma. One night, Emma invited Rachael over for a movie night at Ryan's place after work. Rachael insisted that she didn't want to be seen smelling of leftover chicken and dried milkshake, but Emma was persistent and convinced Rachael to come over. Rachael claims that it was "love at first sight" when she entered the room. Rob offered to make her something to drink and they sat on the couch to watch a movie, with Rob's other roommate Taylor's dog in between them. Throughout the whole movie, both dog lovers kept inching closer to each other, using the dog as an excuse. A few days later, Rob messaged Rachael on Facebook. Trying to impress her with his "sweet moves" he asked if she played soccer, and continued the conversation with how he "thought he saw her on the field" (lets be real). Rachael quickly caught on, but went along with it. About a week later of nonstop talking, we decided to meet up for our first date at a coffee shop. We have been inseparable ever since! I guess its true...when you know, you know.
We had been traveling across the country for our big coast-to-coast move. One of our last stops was the Grand Canyon, followed by Vegas, and then LA! On the morning of the proposal Rachael swears she had a gut feeling that today was "the day" and texted all her friends. (To this day Rob still insists that she had no idea). Walking around the South Rim, Rob found a ridge almost completely secluded by trees. Rachael could tell he was acting funny when Rob was suddenly fixated on a little lizard, trying to divert Rachael's attention away from what was about to happen. Still trying to distract her, they took a bunch of photos in front of the canyon. One cute and slightly weird photoshoot later, Rachael turned around to see Rob on one knee. After a couple of tears, she said yes! It really was the perfect way to end a cross country road trip.
